Music at Thames Valley Grammar School and Thames Valley College

TVGS and TVC during my time (1969-1976) had an active music department. As far as I remember Andrew Bohman was head of music when I arrived, but he retired around 1970 and Angela Sleeman, young and very talented arrived to pick up from where he'd left off.

Later, when TVGS became a Sixth Form College she was joined by John Walker (also known as Granville Walker) and later still by Clifford Mould (also known as Clifford Armstrong, and now a well-known writer on food and drink).

I managed to make a few recordings between 1974 and 1976 which serve to illustrate the high musical standard we achieved. Sadly I don't have what was probably the orchestra's highest achievement - Schubert's Symphony No. 8 (the "Unfinished").

I'm working through these recordings and digitising them. It's a slow job. Ultimately I hope to get them all onto this site as mp3s. For now, only those which are shown in blue are available.

If you performed in any of these and can provide any more information, please let me know.
